Reaching an Organism
They say that when we reach the point of no return
we’ll know about it.
When everything’s so loud that you cant even hear yourself
think
It’ll be too late to stop the inevitable
looking for why I’m making you squirm with sexual innuendos?
Then Pause.
The answer lies in that the strength of the message relies
more on the volume of the insinuations
than on the desperation of the cause.
Don’t believe it? Ever counted how many women were slapped
On the global- stage before a blindfolded audience
Till the suggestion of bared of breasts caused the naughty crowd
to peak…
Constitutions amended and a surge of raised fists
suddenly everyone had turned the right cheek
I’m speaking for the organism
To whom no-one listens
For each tuna suffocating from the oil in their gils
To the polar bears trapped on melting prisons
And each shrub incinerated from acid rain
And the porcupines weighed down by an array of poisons
We can stare at the floor
with our hands into our pockets
Or take them out, wiping the sweat on our crotches
Then stretch them up further than we think we can reach
And Reach the Organisms who’s cause we will preach
Although we may dispute over evolution
Or whether the world is a God-made illusion
There is no theory that can deploy
That the earth is here as man residue to destroy
Listen, I understand,
the facts are scary,
the remedies are bland
and sometimes masturbationescapism feels like the only way
out
Consumerism is foreplay to the earths decay
Politicians give head to the coming of doomsday
I’ve got a million more metaphors in my gear-bag
And thats not all I’ve got in there ;)
Sorry
So I’ll reiterate although I’ve said it before
Because I know that accepting is humanities tragic flaw
If the simple trick of using sexual insinuation
Is enough to get a few more people to listen
Then its easy enough to do what needs to be done
To put down the polystyrene
and let in the sun.
